Everyone has hair on their body – and sometimes getting rid of that unwanted hair can be difficult. Here at Waxing with Aggy we aim to reduce the stress related to your body image and encourage a positive self-image by helping you feel comfortable in your own skin.
What is back waxing?
Back waxing involves applying hot or soft wax to the desired area(s) on your back and then removing it in one swift motion. At Waxing With Aggy, we use 6 to 8 waxes, depending on what your skin needs. The wax is applied with the direction of your hair growth, and then removed in the opposite direction – this allows the hair follicle to be removed along with the hard wax or wax strip.
Why should you wax your back?
Men of all ages and ethnicities can have unwanted back hair that needs to be maintained. Shaving, while easily accessible from home, can prove to be difficult in such a hard-to-reach area – making waxing a viable solution to ease the process.
In addition to being an overall easier process, waxing actually helps the hair grow back thinner and less dense altogether due to the fact that the wax removes the entire hair follicle – including the root. Removing the hair follicle means that your risk of having an ingrown hair is reduced to almost none with proper aftercare – making your skin look smoother and healthier overall.
Back waxing vs shaving
When it comes to maintaining body hair, it is common for people to go with what they know: shaving! While shaving can be one way to remove hair, it comes with some cons that waxing can help resolve:
- Sensitivity: Using a razor can cause irritation. Pulling on the skin and applying too much pressure can cause knicks, bumps and cuts when shaving. Waxing avoids most skin irritation issues and even works for those who cannot shave due to having sensitive skin.
- Time / Cost: While shaving can be done in the privacy of your own home, it happens at a much more frequent rate (every three to four days) versus waxing, which is done every few months – depending on how fast your hair growth cycles are. Not only can this save you from the repeated days in the shower, but one waxing session can last approximately the same length of time (if not shorter) than the average shave.
- Ease: Lets face it, even if having bumps and cuts wasn’t a concern, there’s still the fact that shaving your own back is nearly impossible to do on your own. Having someone help you may not always be an option – so let us here at Waxing With Aggy make things simple for you!
How much does back waxing cost?
The cost for a full back wax can be found on our services page, and we wax both men and women! If a full back wax is not needed, a half back service is offered too. Feel free to look over the “Services” for additional pricing on a wide range of waxing services.
Why should you go to a professional for back waxing?
While waxing at home has become commonplace over time, trusting a licensed esthetician sets you up for quality work and ease of mind. The process of waxing can be dangerous as some methods use hot, melted wax (hard wax or soft wax) applied to the skin for hair removal (versus wax strips). If the wax is not quality, or if it is heated up at too high of a temperature, the likelihood of injury increases significantly. Trusting a professional not only makes the process easier, but ensures your safety.
Your back waxing appointment
Now that you know why you should utilize our body waxing services, let’s go over what to expect when getting ready for an appointment. Making sure our customers feel educated, comfortable, and prepared is important!
How to prepare for a back wax
First and foremost: let your hair grow! Making sure there’s something for the wax to hold onto is crucial for a successful wax. Other helpful tips include staying hydrated, exfoliating about two days prior to your appointment, and making sure to wear clothes that are loose fitting to avoid additional irritation.
Exfoliating is crucial as it helps remove dead skin cells and buildup on the treated area. Keeping the excess oil and skin cells decreases the likelihood of a smooth, clean wax.
How much does waxing your back hurt?
Waxing can be uncomfortable, but everyone’s pain threshold is different. The reality is: you’re going to feel something – but whether it’s a quick tug or a hot sensation on your back – that’s going to be up to your body! The good news is that over time the process gets easier and the pain threshold is reduced.
Back waxing aftercare
Our FAQ page has many great tips on waxing aftercare – but the main goal is to try and avoid saunas, swimming, tight clothes, tanning, and other activities that may cause your skin to be irritated. Yes, this does include resisting the urge to touch your newly waxed area!
